Rich, beautiful, and talented, Chris Dobbs is used to getting what he wants, and what he wants now is his dangerously handsome and intensely private boss, former Army Ranger, Jay-Cee.

Everything about the tightly-controlled, brooding artist drives Chris to knees in more ways than one, ways Chris realizes he’s always craved but never understood. He needs to know how Jay-Cee does it.

When Chris smashes through all of Jay-Cee’s hard-earned control, Chris learns that while giving Jay-Cee his body and his submission is as simple as breathing, Jay-Cee wants things Chris can never give him - his heart, his soul, and his trust.

Jay-Cee offered his brilliant young protégé everything, let him see parts of himself Jay-Cee had buried long ago in the mountains of Afghanistan. In return, Chris took only the pieces he wanted and rejected the rest, leaving Jay-Cee reeling.

Both haunted by their pasts, the deep connection holds the promise of healing for both of them, but if they are to build a sanctuary from the rubble of their broken hearts, they are going to have to risk losing everything.

When two people feel that real connection, then they are supposed to be together.

This is definitely my favorite book from the Veteran's Affairs series to date. I loved both of the main characters, Chris & Jay Cee. Both of these men had a lot of scars and a lot of issues that had to be dealt with before they could actually "be" together, but in the long run they each learned how to be what the other one needed.

I love that characters from previous books make a appearances in this book. I love the way the author ties all of the books together. This book is more than just a romance. It deals, with some real issues that a lot of our veterans have to deal with on a daily basis. I love the entire series and hope there will be more books in the series! I would definitely recommend this book and the whole series. Bronze Star can be read alone, but is so much better with the back story of the other characters. I voluntarily read an advance reader's copy of this book.

Wonderful book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this addition to the series.
Well written storyline and well defined characters that just hooked me into their story from the very beginning until the very end! This was not my usual genre, however, I am glad that I read it and I look forward to reading more from this author!

I've read a few books in this series so I enjoyed the relationship between Chris and Cee-Jay. I think Chris is smart and mature beyond his years so the whole older/ younger thing worked here. Plus I loved seeing and catching up with everyone else .
Enjoyable and look forward to more.
This is such a wonderful and heartwarming story. Chris and Jay-Cee each seem to have just the very thing the other one needs to fill them up and given them a more complete life. Each man has made a life for himself and worked on their own set of issues. I enjoyed the real struggle they had in developing their relationship with each other. This was a wonderful and satisfying read.
I waited not so patiently for Chris and JayCees story. It was full of surprises, twists, love, understanding and hot sex. It is a great read. I love this series, and I hope there are many more books to come. I love how each story gives us tidbits about the characters in previous books. I also appreciate that unlike some other series, there are no inconsistencies with previous books in the series. Read it. You will love it.
I really liked the group of friends that have found each other in this small fictional Colorado town. Each has a history that slowly is revealed as the story moves along. Romance and deep friendships are complex and accepting. Family is what you make of it and sometimes the family you're born isn't really does come through to love, understand and support you.
All of us need to remember everyday the pain, suffering and sacrifice made by the members of the military.
Both Jay-Cee and Chris alternately showed the truth of the axiom about assumptions in this book. Their insecurities ended up hurting each other at the worst possible point, and yet, they were able to work through the hurt to find a true partnership.

I loved how this was set at the same time as Paper Hearts / Paper Roses so that we got to see how Benny and Mikey's relationship blended with Jay-Cee and Chris's.
