Lucy, a succubus still coming to terms with her special nature, falls in love with her hairdresser. Elbe isn't the type of girl she usually falls for, but after seeing her stand up to her bigoted brother, Lucy is impressed by Elbe's confidence and energy, convinced there's more to this girl underneath her shy and timid personality.
She offers Elbe her friendship, which quickly turns into scalding passion.
But Elbe's brother, in his religious zealousness, isn't so easily deterred...

This novella was great. I’ve read several books about trans characters recently and as this group gets more and more visible politically (both positively and negatively ala the bathroom debates and the bigotry we see so apparent with that), it’s great to read positive stories like this. This novella not only tackles that bigotry head on, but it also gives a face to the people involved. Though, lol, don’t get me wrong—it’s not a political treatise—this book is hot, hot, HOT! I just mean to say that the characters in it feel like REAL people and you can connect to them. It makes bigotry feel all that more unjust when you can feel for characters and be like, it’s all such BS! Why can’t we just let people BE who they want to be and love the way they want to love! But I digress. Back to the hotness! Because day-um, this book is chock full of it. From the minute we get to see Lucy and Elbe in the same room together it’s like, bust out the fans and ice-water because I need some cooling down, stat! I loved watching their chemistry and sizzle. What was great this story too was that you felt like characters connected—and that’s really what makes erotica stand out. Romance readers read hundreds of sex scenes a year. It’s the ones where there’s an emotional connection involved that endure and remain with us. Five stars to The Haircut. It’s a novella you can read in one sitting, but a story that’ll stick with you.

The Haircut a romantic story with a cutting edge eBook Lusty Soul Reviews
Not everyone meets their perfect match in life right away.
The sex scenes were really well done. The chemistry between Elbe and Lucy was red hot. I especially liked how the author included the transgender identity of one of them into everything else that was going on without making it the only focal point of that scene. It was incredibly sexy, and it was also a smooth way to share that information with the audience without slowing down the plot one bit.
I would have liked to see more time spent explaining Elbe’s relationship with her brother. There were some things about it that I never understood, especially when it came to how he kept such close tabs on someone he was obviously very upset with. Their tense relationship was such an important part of the plot. It would have been helpful to know more about it so that I could understand certain scenes better later on.
It was intriguing to see how the science fiction and fantasy elements were woven into the main storyline. They never overpowered the erotic moments, but they were never completely forgotten either. I enjoyed seeing such a seamless blend of all of these genres. This is the sort of tale I’d think about mentioning to someone who was a big fan of any one of them and who wanted to branch out and try something new.
The Haircut was a satisfying read that I’d recommend to anyone in the mood for something short and sultry.

The writing is very poor first person and the ending is just wierd. The author totally misleads you in the preview. She makes it sound like a lesbian love story. It is not. It's a transsexual story. The author's complete rejection of the bible as not portraying a God of love shows she never read it with an open mind but only listened to TV hucksters and condemned the whole book based on their hateful rantings. Putting all that aside and getting to the story itself . I give it a C minus due to the restrictions of first person viewpoint. To make this story complete we needed to see in all the character's minds. The transsexual person's viewpoint was badly needed. Instead we end up with unbelievable harangues by the transsexual which no real person would ever do. The brother is a stereotype and we have no understanding as to why he is the way he is. The ending is unbelievable with people sneaking around in disguise which would have them arrested in a real hospital. My partner worked in several and people who try to sneak in as fake nurses or doctors always got arrested pretty quickly.
Finally got my chance to read this great short story. As others have already mentioned, Lucy's adventures are just as hot this time as they have been in the past. I was surprised at a couple twists I wasn't expecting, which made the read even better. The character chemistry works, I hope there are more stories to come from Lucy and Elbe!
An interesting and fairly hot little tale, worth a read. There are some twists in it that I won't reveal but that makes it impossible to describe the story in much depth. One twist, which the author gives away in the description, is that the protagonist and narrator is a succubus. But she's a more low-key, human take on a succubus. Instead of a seething creature of hell sporting a pair of horns and bat wings, she's voluptuous latina who happens to somehow feed off of sexual energy. She otherwise doesn't seem to be immortal or have any special powers In a way,
it's a bit odd because her being a succubus doesn't actually do anything for the story. It has no real effect on the action or the outcome. There are no adverse effects on Elbe from Lucy (the succubus) feeding off of her sexual energy. She may as well have been a normal person who just happened to lust after Elbe after meeting her in the salon where she works. The conflict in the story comes in when Elbe's brother appears to lecture her about her supposedly sinful ways. Elbe does a remarkable job rebuking him but it does become a bit preachy. Some hot action between Lucy and Elbe was already interrupted by his appearance, and having to read through this lecturing gets a little annoying. At least this increased the sexual tension between Lucy and Elbe.
When their lovemaking does resume, it's pretty hot, though. The ending leaves open the possibility we'll see more from these two, but unless Lucy's succubus nature is addressed and developed and has a real effect on the story, I'm going to be disappointed.
The only other thing I might nitpick about is mentioning cup sizes of breasts when describing characters. That always seems wrong to me; yes, it's possible to be too specific.
Overall it's a delightful story and one that's honest and not insensitive or exploitative.
